Ballymagarvey Village

Courtyard Cottages

In the 19th Century, Ballymagarvey Village’s cottages were much smaller than the ones you see today. Back then, they housed the maids and the children’s governesses and the four cottages next to the mill, housed the mill foreman and the mill workers and their families. We have framed the original, hand-drawn architectural plans - dated 1854 - and they now hang in the Drawing Room in Ballymagarvey House.

We have 7 self-catering cottages in total which can accommodate up to 32 people in a combination of double and twin rooms.

The courtyard cottagesToday, the cottages have been lovingly restored and named in honour of the trees which adorn the landscape around us.
Acer Cottage, Beech Cottage, Cherry Cottage, Dogwood Cottage and Elm Cottage each have two bedrooms; one bedroom with double bed, one bedroom with two single beds. Ivy Cottage, (which was originally the on-site forge) is now a one-bedroom cottage with double bed. Willow Cottage, (originally the mill foreman’s home) is now a three-bedroom cottage; one room with double bed, two rooms with two single beds.

The courtyardFacilities

All of the cottages are self-catering and have everything you need. In keeping with the relaxed atmosphere of Ballymagarvey, you will not find television here but to keep stress at a minimum, but you will find wireless broadband.

In the past, the cottages welcomed those in search of rest, ease and comfort; there are some things time does not alter.
